Created to protect the Emperor, the Cataphracts are an elite corps capable of using the Unicity network to alter the temporality of their environment. According to legend, they were founded at the creation of the Empire. Systerin, the first Emperor, had narrowly escaped an assassination attempt by the elves.

Where the ancient gods were able to free themselves from the laws of the world, men were still prisoners of it. If nothing were done, humanity's liberation would be short-lived and Systerin's people would fall back into the idolatry of their cruel elven masters. If man could not change reality, he would create his own.

Systerin imagined a space where men would be equal and able to change the world as they saw fit. An earthly paradise called Unicity, whose network would be the avatar. Systerin formed a group of his best knights, the Cataphracts, who mastered his creation with the aim of making them the protectors of his descendants.

The Cataphracts' knowledge allows them to slow down time to dodge an attack or take the initiative despite their heavy equipment, making them the best bodyguards of humanity. However, the price to pay for altering reality is bitter, as the Cataphracts' personalities, distorted by the Unicity network, gradually disappear.

The warrior then becomes a melancholic automaton, staring blankly into space, his eyes clouded with tears.
